2nd Rector’s Conference – TRANSFORMING HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTES TO PRODUCE 21ST CENTURY GRADUATES

The second annual Rectors’ Conference was held in the Governor House on 27th November 2019 on the topic of “Transforming Higher Education Institutes to Produce 21st Century Graduates”, organized by Superior University.

The aim of the conference is to make a blueprint that identifies the current methods of higher education institutes and compares them with the ideal education systems that inculcate all values of a 21st century graduate into its students. To achieve this, the agenda of the conference divided into 7 working groups:

  1. Institutional Governance
  2. Skill based Curriculum Development
  3. Teaching Pedagogies
  4. Instilling Leadership in Faculty
  5. Monitoring, Reflection, and Evaluation
  6. Innovation Ecosystem
  7. Internationalization of Higher Education & SDGS

The conference was graced by The Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and other dignitaries including Raja Yasser Humayon (Minister for Higher Education Punjab) Prof Dr Fazal Khalid (Chairman PHEC) Catherine Rodriguez (US Consul General) Arshad Taqi (President of Pakistan Medical Commission) General Obaid Bin Zakaria (VC Lahore Garrison University) Prof Chaudhry Abdul Khaliq (Managing Director Superior Group) Shoaib Zahid Malik (Director Kausar Group) Parveen Sarwar (Prof Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar (VC National Skill university Islamabad) and more than 50 VCs, 25 Industry CEOs, 10 Government Representatives and 15 International Delegates from USA, Sweden, Germany, Indonesia, and UAE participated in the conference.

Rectors’  Conference is  an  initiative  taken  by  Dr. Sumaira Rehman, Rector

Superior University. She wished to create a workable, interactive platform

for higher education academicians, vice chancellors, policymakers and government decision makers, so they all may work collaboratively for improvements in higher education systems and produce the best graduates of 21st Centaury.

During her address, she shared her vision to build economically Superior Pakistan through an entrepreneurial revolution which has been already practiced in Superior University. She generously invited the entire higher education sector to observe Superior Excellence Model for “Transforming Higher Education Institutes to produce 21st Century Graduates”.

Chaudhry Sarwar appreciated Superior for organizing the Rectors Conference and commended Superior for playing a leading role in the education sector ensured that he will be glad to personally contribute to any unanimous plan for promoting higher education sector and also, he will look forward to workable recommendations from Rectors’ Conference.

“I was amazed to see the grandeur as well as the serious agenda of Transforming Higher Education Institutes to produce 21st Century Graduates” Said by the US Consul General Catherine Rodriguez.

She expressed her willingness to bring more collaboration between Pakistan and the US for student exchange, scholarship schemes and facilitation for students of entrepreneurship.

Chaudhry Abdul Khaliq, The Managing Director Superior Group said he was pleased to see academic leaders and universities’ rectors from across Pakistan under one roof. He emphasized that university leaders can play pivotal in producing qualified graduates with an ability to contribute to national progress.

Two regional dialogues were also organized by superior University in collaboration with Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences at Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar.

The conference served as a networking a networking platform to all stakeholders and laid the foundation of a framework designed to produce 21st century graduates.
