November, 2009: Superior University participated in the 4th International Conference on Business and Management Research (ICBMR) in Indonesia. Seventy-one research papers were projected from all over the world; however Pakistan presented five papers out of which four were prepared by Superior University.
The Rector of Superior University, Prof Dr. Ch Abdul Rehman presented his research paper on ‘Human Resource Practices and Performance among Teachers in Pakistan’, which was highly appreciated by the international research community. According to the study HR has emerged as a vital source of gaining and sustaining the competitive edge over competitors. Though universities have well documented formal HR policies in theory, there is still growing frustration among teachers over current policies which prove that there is a need for revolutionary adjustments.
The purpose of the study was to explore the perceptions and understanding of teachers about ‘HRM practices both in public and private universities of Pakistan. This study will also help HR practitioners and educational policy makers in designing holistic and employee friendly policies if they want to be competitive and successful. Since teachers are the least researched group in the studies of HR practices, particularly in developing countries, the present study contributes to the organizational justice and positive encouragement towards teachers.
Moreover, Superior University presented other research papers at the international conference on ‘Gender and Work Life Balance: A Phenomenal Study of Women Entrepreneurs in Pakistan’ by Prof. Sumaira Rehman, ‘Exploring Leadership Intelligence for Sustainable Business Operations’ by Mrs. Elisabeth Berg and ‘Foreign Direct Investment in Pakistan in the Shadow of War on Terror’ by Dr. Sikander Khan (Pro-Rector Research and Development Superior University).
This phenomenal effort by Superior University was admired by the global research society. On the subject, University Malaysia SABAH and Universities WIJAYAPUTRA offered do a joint comparative study in Malaysia and Indonesia.
